360° On The Ice

This is circular panorama from the same trip as the last posts on the blog. It is shot out on the ice, as you can see. Not much going on, but you can zoom in a bit to get a better view.

Navigate 360° horizontally by holding and moving your courser.

(Quicktime is required to view the QTVR)

It doesn't look like the ice is 100% horizontal when you take a 360° spin, that's kind of strange because I had the air bubble dead center on both the tripod and the one on the hot shoe.

Cold Trees

Terje Aalrust

This beautiful group of trees, the reflection in the ice and the dense cold weather made this on of my favorite shots from the trip.

Tamron 17-50mm
29mm, ISO 100, f/9.0, 1/80

Processing took place in Adobe Lightroom as usuall.
I increased blacks, contrast, brightness, vibrance and sharpening
I decreased saturation

In the first version I went for a dark cold scene. Jan Ivar Vik ment it would look a lot better with increased exposure. I followed the recommendation and the result is shown above.

A Tree Alone in a Field

Terje Aalrust

There once was a tree,
A tree alone in a field.
And as that tree grew
It got bigger than all 'round.
And people would often stop
Just to look at that tree,
That tree in a field.
Till one day one person,
Went and cut down that tree,
That tree in a field.
And you know what?
That tree learned one thing
Don't stand too tall too fast,
Or someone just might
Cut you down.

Cracking Up

The ice was covered in holes like these from ice fishers. The ice had done some work on them afterwards and made them a bit more dramatic.

Field of Straw

This is bit of a cliché, but I post it anyway. As I was strolling around looking for stuff to photograph I find myself surrounded in a field of frosty looking straws and the sunset in the distance, how could i resist!?
